THE MEALS ARE BACK

Choose simple and balanced preparations
that don't require too much of your time in the kitchen.

Below, I share with you a practical guide that will allow you to send your children to school with balanced food, prepared at home and without spending hours in the kitchen.

We are back to our routine: back to school, meeting up with classmates, doing homework, preparing meals and many other things typical of the beginning of the year.

How to prepare school meals and not die trying?

  • Organization is key. Before you go to the supermarket, think of 5 dishes that your children like. This way you will have all the ingredients to prepare them and ensure a healthy diet.
  • It is very important that these are foods that they have already tried before and that they like. Otherwise, when they open the tupperware at school and do not know what it is, we run the risk of them not eating it; spending the rest of the day at school without eating, with little energy to perform well.
  • Choose simple, balanced meals that don't require much time in the kitchen. They should be designed to be eaten with your hand or fork, since we will continue to make lunches in the classroom.
  • Since there is a microwave in each classroom, I recommend heating up the lunch box before leaving home. This way, by storing it in the thermal lunch box, it will stay warm until noon, without requiring too many seconds of microwave time, and you can optimize time and enjoy lunch together.
  • It is very important that you bring cutlery and a bottle for lunch. There are no cutlery and bottles to borrow in the classrooms, which means that you will have to go to the dining room, losing a lot of lunch time with your classmates.
  • Incorporate vegetables into pie or empanada fillings, or mix them with cereals, such as rice or quinoa.
  • Fruit is an excellent option for dessert or a snack as it provides just the right amount of carbohydrates and fiber.
  • I wish you a very happy new year, and as always, I will be with your children at mealtime.
