“There are changes that make a difference”
The Honorary Commission for Cardiovascular Health launches the 26th Heart Week in Uruguay, which is celebrated from September 25 to October 1.
The national campaign aims to raise awareness and information about cardiovascular diseases and promote healthy habits.
What can I change?
- Start the day with a fruit.
- Reduce consumption of salt and foods high in sodium, eating less packaged products, cold cuts and sausages.
- Increase water consumption by limiting consumption of sugary drinks (soft drinks and juices).
- Make our meals more colorful, including fruits and vegetables.
- Quitting tobacco: quitting smoking is possible.
- Avoid alcohol consumption.
- Move more every day, in the way you like best, in your usual activities.
- Control weight, avoid being overweight.
- Know your numbers: blood pressure, cholesterol and Body Mass Index. Perform regular check-ups, adjust treatments.
Although some may seem small, these changes are big steps towards our health that really make a difference.
