Every October 16th we celebrate WORLD FOOD DAY; this year the motto invites us to reflect on:
“THE RIGHT TO FOOD FOR A BETTER LIFE AND FUTURE”
Food represents diversity, nutrition, affordability, accessibility and safety. There should be a greater diversity of nutritious foods available in our markets to reach our tables, and be used for the benefit of all.
The most vulnerable people are often forced to rely on basic or less healthy foods, while others do not have the availability of fresh or varied foods, lacking the information they need to choose a healthy diet.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
- Choose local and seasonal foods.
- Adopt healthy habits.
- Educate yourself on food labeling.
- Reduce food waste.
