World Food Safety Day

Día Mundial de la Alimentación

«Food standards save lives»

A large percentage of the population gets sick because they do not take the necessary care when bringing food home.

That is why it is very important to practice good hygiene, handling, cooking and preservation of food before consuming it.

Aspects to take into account when buying and consuming our food:

  • Buy all labeled products, as this is a guarantee of quality.
  • Do not consume foods that have passed the expiration date.
  • When choosing frozen products, make sure that they have not broken the cold chain and that their packaging is not broken, as this could contaminate them with the environment.
  • It is essential not to mix raw and cooked foods, as this would cause cross contamination.
  • When purchasing fruits and vegetables, disinfection must be carried out before storage.
  • In the case of meat (especially chicken), cooking should reach a temperature greater than 70ºC; this ensures that microorganisms disappear.
  • Once cooked, food should be consumed immediately; if we allow it to reach room temperature and then refrigerate it, microbes begin to proliferate, and the longer it is left, the greater the risk.
