Questions of habits:
Until March 13th, few families gathered to enjoy a healthy breakfast; unfortunately, due to lack of time, this opportunity was being lost, and it had come to be considered a meal that could be dispensed with.
This new scenario forced us to correct this bad habit. Breakfast, besides being an excellent opportunity to share with the family, responds to the need to replenish the energy consumed during sleep. Even though our body rests during this period, there are vital processes in the body that do not stop and that consume energy; for example, breathing, heart function, maintaining body temperature, among others.
There are foods that, due to their characteristics, are especially suitable for breakfast. The most suitable are those that provide energy, carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and vitamins. On the other hand, it is a suitable meal to provide calcium to our body, since during lunch and dinner, the contribution of this mineral is, in general, quite low. We should try to include in breakfast foods such as milk, yogurt or cheese – which provide proteins and calcium – bread or cereals – because they are rich in carbohydrates and vitamins of group B – and fresh fruit or its juice, sources of vitamin C.
In short, it is important to be aware of having an appetizing, complete and balanced breakfast, which provides our body with the energy and nutrients necessary to start the day well. Let this change be part of the “new normal.”
