In this month of the grandfather, what better way to learn about our culture than through their tales and stories. They reflect the cultural wealth that is passed down from generation to generation and that brings to the present those seeds that their ancestors planted long ago.

The ancient customs of Uruguay are full of color, music, dance, cultural fusion and of course, exquisite cuisine, traditional mate and the intense flavors of its wines.

Mate is a drink that is now part of the cultural heritage of several South American peoples, including Uruguay. Drinking mate is part of daily life, since in addition to being a great stimulant due to the amount of caffeine it has, it is also credited with healing properties. It is very common to see people with their thermos in various public spaces enjoying this drink at any time of day and at any time of year. It is definitely part of social coexistence.

To fully immerse yourself in the Uruguayan spirit, you cannot miss a juicy churrasco, a strip steak (rib), or a Uruguayan pork loin for those who prefer a soft, low-fat meat. To accompany it, there is nothing better than a red Tannat.

The tradition and ritual of putting meat on the grill seems to be part of the national culture, and places it as a typical and preferred dish among Uruguayans. However, on the list of options we find chivitos, milanesas with French fries, empanadas, Olympic sandwiches, hot dogs, chorizos in bread, pizzas and fainá, alfajores and stuffed pasta in all its varieties.
