THE BEST ALLY OF WINTER

THE SOUP!!!!

When the cold begins to make itself felt by each one of us, there is nothing better than fighting it with comforting broths and soups.

BENEFITS of soup

If we want to find the benefits of soup for the little ones in the house, we will see that, if they are very playful and find it difficult to stay seated at the table, soup is a vehicle to blend meat, chicken, ham, hard-boiled eggs and, above all, vegetables. When we want them to get used to different flavours of vegetables, we take advantage of including them processed so that they do not perceive everything together, that is, texture and flavour. In this way we achieve a gradual and safe incorporation.

With soup we manage to concentrate all the necessary nutrient intake in a small volume; this is valid for both generational extremes, the youngest and the elderly.

But it can also be used to control weight, if it is above the average percentiles. Here we will use vegetable broth or a “Juliana” soup.

The secret is to consume it before the main dish so that the soup occupies part of the gastric capacity, causing it to achieve greater satiating power.

This will help us maintain a healthy weight.

SECRETS of soup

  • Let it boil for the first 5 minutes on high heat and then lower it to minimum; this way we will ensure that all the nutrients from the vegetables remain in the cooking liquid.
  • To add some color and additional flavor, you can add rosemary, sage, parsley or any other aromatic herb of your choice.
  • Don't waste anything from your fridge: if you have any leftover cooked chicken or grilled or baked meat, cut it into small cubes and add it to the broth, along with a clove of garlic.
  • To give the soup body and not be so liquid, you should include some potatoes, pumpkin, and/or carrots.

Go ahead and put these SOUP “secrets” into practice at the family table!
