Our secondary graders first graders, who are working with PBL (Project Based Learning), had the chance to create a “light box” as the final product of the project they had been working on.
In this project, students had to study phenomena related to light, then design and build experiments or games that showed some of the phenomena they had studied. The challenge was to carry out these experiments inside a box that, through the interaction of different elements displayed some of the phenomena.
This final product was to be shared with Form 1 students. Their secondary school partners visited them in the Science Lab and invited them to interact with the light box, experimenting the phenomena and explaining these to them.
This resulted in a very enjoyable experience for both age groups, which fostered sharing scientific knowledge and communication in the second language, together with the social interaction of students from different sectors of the school.
